Celebrating the Lantern Festival

On 12th February, more than 10 foreign friends from Bangladesh and Ethiopia, teachers and students from the Second Primary School Affiliated to Nantong Normal School, and opera and drama fans in Nantong gathered together to celebrate the Lantern Festival, and experience the festive atmosphere in the process of guessing lantern riddles, appreciating intangible cultural heritages, learning Beijing Opera and making lanterns.
During the event, Wei Hongyu, the successor of Mei School Peking Opera, taught foreign friends how to do Peking Opera movements, facial makeup, etc., allowing them to experience the charm of the national treasure, Peking Opera.
Zhao Yuan from Ethiopia is an international exchange student in Nantong University. He said, ‘this is my first time to participate in the Lantern Festival in China. I feel very excited. I learnt a lot about the Lantern Festival customs, and want to share with my family and friends in hometown through my mobile phone.’

闹元宵
2月12日,来自孟加拉国、埃塞俄比亚的十多名外国友人和通师二附师生、通城戏迷票友欢聚一堂,喜闹元宵,在猜灯谜、赏非遗、学京剧、做花灯的过程中,感受浓厚的节日氛围。
活动中,京剧梅派传人韦红玉还手把手教外国友人学京剧动作、画脸谱等,让他们亲身体验国粹京剧的魅力。
来自埃塞俄比亚的外国友人赵远是南通大学的一名国际交流生。他表示:“这是我第一次在中国参加元宵活动,感到非常兴奋。我了解到了不少元宵习俗,想把这些元宵习俗通过手机分享给远在家乡的家人朋友。”
