On 7th July, a life-saving rescue operation was carried out in the Baoshan waters of the Yangtze River estuary. Nantong Pilot Station rapidly responded and urgently coordinated, successfully assisted a foreign ship in the emergency transfer and treatment of a foreign crew member who suddenly fell seriously ill in 50 minutes. 

  At 6 am on the day, Wang Jian, a Grade One Pilot of Nantong Pilot Station, got on the Liberian ship ‘MV RADIANT RAY’, to pilot it from Nantong to Shanghai. At 9:25 am, when the ship just entered Shanghai Baoshan waters, the captain urgently reported to Wang Jian: the third mate on the ship suddenly fell ill and was in unbearable pain. He was gradually losing consciousness. The situation was extremely critical and he needed emergency treatment urgently.

  Faced with the sudden condition, Wang Jian stayed calm. He reported the issue to Nantong Pilot Station as soon as possible. The Pilot Station immediately initiated an emergency response and instructed the pilot to report to the maritime administration agency in the relevant waters immediately. At the same time, he instructed the ship to use onboard medical equipment to monitor the blood pressure, blood oxygen and other key vital signs of the sick crew member in real time; and simultaneously report any emergencies to the General Dispatching Office of the Yangtze River Pilotage Center. It also urgently contacted the ship's agent to coordinate medical rescue forces on shore and subsequent matters. The series of orders were clear and decisive, which won a valuable advantage for the rescue. 

  To minimize the transfer time, the rescue plan was determined to be the extremely challenging ‘on voyage transfer’. At 9:45, the transfer operation started. However, influenced by typhoon outer circulation, the waters where the incident occurred were turbulent, and the risk of the coast guard boat and the huge cargo ship collision in the dynamic voyage increased sharply. With strong professional judgement, after Wang Jian fully communicated with the Baoshan Maritime Department, he decisively commanded ship ‘MV RADIANT RAY’ to leave the main channel and temporarily anchor in the outer waters to complete the patient transfer in a static state. At 10:05, the giant ship safely anchored. 

  The moment the ship anchored, Wang Jian rapidly went to the main deck, and voluntarily worked as the ‘on-site commander’ during the transfer. He calmly directed the crew to use a stretcher to properly secure the unconscious sick crew member, accurately observed the on-site environment, and fully and accurately conveyed the intentions and operational requirements of both parties. At 10:15, precisely coordinated by Wang Jian, it took only a few moments to transfer the sick crew member safely to the patrol boat. 

  A life relay across the ship and the shore was completed efficiently with the close cooperation of multiple parties. It took only 50 minutes from the discovery of the danger to the safe arrival on shore! At about 11 o'clock in the morning of the same day, the hospital sent news that the crew member had been properly treated and his condition was stable.

南通引航站快速响应紧急协调

50分钟抢出外籍船员生机

    7月7日，一场生命救援行动在长江口宝山水域紧张展开。南通引航站快速响应、紧急协调，50分钟成功协助外轮紧急转运并救治一名突发重疾的外籍船员。

    当日凌晨6时，南通引航站一级引航员王健登上利比里亚籍“灿烂射线”轮（MV RADIANT RAY），引领其从南通驶往上海。上午9时25分，船舶刚驶入上海宝山水域，船长紧急向王健报告：船上三副突发急症，身体剧痛难忍，正逐渐失去意识，情况万分危急，亟须抢救。

    面对突发情况，王健临危不乱，第一时间将险情报告至南通引航站。引航站立即启动应急响应，指导引航员立即向所在水域海事管理机构汇报；同时，指导船方使用船载医疗设备对患病船员进行血压、血氧等关键生命体征的实时监测；同步将突发情况上报长江引航中心总调度室；紧急联络船舶代理协调上岸医疗救援力量及后续事宜。一系列指令清晰、果断，为救援赢得了宝贵先机。

    为最大限度缩短转运时间，救援方案确定为极具挑战性的“在航交接”。9时45分，转运行动启动。然而，受台风外围环流影响，事发水域涌浪翻腾，海巡艇与庞大的货轮在动态航行中并靠风险陡增。王健凭借过硬的专业判断力，在与宝山海事部门充分沟通后，果断指挥“灿烂射线”轮驶离主航道，前往外围水域临时锚泊，以便在静态下完成病人转运。10时05分，巨轮安全抛锚。

    锚泊甫定，王健迅速前往主甲板，主动担当起转运“现场指挥”。他沉着指挥船员用担架将已失去意识的患病船员妥善固定，精准把握现场环境，完整准确传达双方意图和操作要求。10时15分，在王健的精准调度下，海巡艇抓住时机，成功在巨轮的下风舷安全靠泊。转运过程紧张有序，仅耗时片刻便将患病船员安全转移至海巡艇。

    一场跨越船岸的生命接力在多方紧密协作下高效完成。从发现险情到安全上岸，仅用时50分钟！当天上午11时许，医院传来消息，该船员已得到妥善救治，情况趋于稳定。
