On 21st August, 2025 European Marine Enterprises Nantong Trip event was held. Dai Kaile, Vice President of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, led more than 30 elites in the European marine industry, gathered with representatives of relevant departments of Nantong and leading marine enterprises involved in overseas business, to discuss new opportunities in the blue economy.

Nantong has long maintained close cooperation with European enterprises. Up to now, in total more than 50 billion U.S. dollars of foreign investment, more than 3,800 foreign enterprises, and 112 investment projects of Fortune Global 500 companies have been introduced. Among them, there are 704 European enterprises, and a total of 2.13 billion U.S. dollars in foreign investment has been used.

Leading European enterprises such as the China Headquarters of Symrise, Bayer Asia Pacific R&D Center and BASF have been rooted in Nantong. The annual output value of Merck Pharmaceutical Nantong Base is nearly 8 billion yuan, and some products have a market share of more than 70% in China. Apart from that, Nantong has built 3 international cooperation industrial parks with Austria, Italy and Switzerland, continuously promoting high-level opening up.
